Music, Motherhood, + Style

Shelly Colvin is one rad woman. She's a killer musician, runs Music Events & Artist Relations for Billy Reid, and overall one fashionable mama.
She set some time aside for us to answer our most pressing questions about motherhood, style, and maintaining a balance.
What does motherhood mean to you?
Total, new purpose and committing to being completely "in it" with your child through all the joys and messes of life.
 Explain your personal style!
Comfortable chic...aka...pajamas that transition into daytime wear, that transition into evening wear, then back to pajamas. 😉
How do you juggle motherhood, music, and the fashion industry?
It's hard, and all clichés apply. Ha! I keep a guitar close at hand; even if it’s sitting with it once a week at some point to play a song or write for an hour, it always feels good to create some noise. I have an amazing caregiver for Judge (my son) who helps during the day while I work for Billy Reid, then I try to create one day each week (or every two weeks at least) for family only—fully engaged, no phones and as little distraction as possible. Those are the best days. We also have extended family in Alabama who help regularly, God bless em!
What is the most rewarding thing about being a mother?
Getting to know this interesting little human!
What is one thing pregnant women should know about dressing their growing bodies?
Don’t feel the need to start shopping in maternity stores, or change your style. Just size up in clothes you would normally wear and be confident in your beautiful shape. My uniform was a great pair of Paige maternity jeans (handed down from a friend), a black Vince tank top and a black, light weight Calvin Klein blazer that I bought in 2 sizes for my growing body. Then I'd have fun accessorizing. I lived in that look and always felt fairly put together.
